You've laid the foundation and crafted dazzling visuals

But let's say you want to go back and check a data source.

How do you see them all in one spot?

Just as a savvy marketer knows every traffic source to their website, you should be clued into every data source feeding your Power BI.

Here's how you get there.

  • Fire up Power BI Desktop.
  • Go to 'Report View': It's the chart icon located on the left side panel.

  • Now, navigate to the Home tab in the ribbon and select 'Transform Data' (the dropdown, not the icon itself).

  • In the dropdown, select Data Source Settings.

  • BOOM. Here are all of your connections.

Inspect them. I've used this many many times when building a data model.

Bonus Tip – Documentation: If you're managing a complex report with numerous data sources, consider documenting them.

Just as a content writer has an editorial calendar, having a data source map can be a lifesaver.

Write down details, update frequencies, and any quirks you've observed. Trust me, Future You will be grateful!

To Conclude:

Power BI isn't just about pretty visuals; it's about understanding the sources behind each graph and chart.

Make sure you know where to find them.
