You can easily insert an image into your Power BI report to enhance its visual appeal or to include logos, icons, or explanatory images. Here's how you can do it:

Open Power BI Desktop

Launch Power BI Desktop and open the report you're working on.

Select a Tab

From the row of tabs at the bottom of the window, click on the report page where you want to insert the image.

Insert Image

From the "Home" tab in the ribbon at the top, click on the "Image" icon in the "Illustrations" group. This will place an empty image box on the report canvas.

Choose an Image

After adding the empty image box, you'll see an "Image URL" option in the "Visualizations" pane on the right. Click on "Image URL" and then enter the URL of the image you want to display. This could be a web URL or a link to a local image file on your computer.

Adjust Image Size and Position

Resize and reposition the image box on the report canvas to the desired location and size. You can do this by clicking and dragging the handles of the image box.

Formatting and Styling

With the image selected, you can use the "Format" tab in the rightclick context menu to adjust the image's formatting, border, and transparency settings.

Image Stretching

By default, the image might maintain its aspect ratio when resizing. You can control whether the image stretches or maintains its proportions by adjusting the "Image Fit" setting in the "Format" tab.

Local Images

If you want to use a local image file from your computer, you'll need to publish the report to the Power BI service or share it with others for them to see the image. Local image paths won't work when sharing the .pbix file.

Preview and Adjust

Use the "View" tab to preview your report and see how the inserted image looks within the overall design. Make any necessary adjustments to ensure it fits well with other visuals.

Save and Publish

Once you're satisfied with the image placement, save your report and consider publishing it to the Power BI service for sharing and collaboration.
